After graduating from high school, I got diploma of the Post-Secondary Vocational Study in the profession of administration technician in the spec. customer service in administration units and a certificate of obtaining qualifications programming, creating and administering websites and databases as part of the profession of an IT technician – I did not take the practical exam (despite the high score of the theoretical exam) in the qualification assembly and operation of computer systems, peripheral devices and networks , which is why I did not get a diploma in the profession of computer science technician. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and social communication (advertising, promotion, press advocacy) at the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz and a master’s degree in information architecture (contemporary information environment) at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. During my studies, I received numerous scholarships from the Rector (KWU/NCU) for the best students.
I have taken many courses, e.g. courses in Python programming, machine learning or data journalism. During my student period, I did an internship at the Czas Chojnic press editorial office and for six years I was a radio operator and technician at the University Radio at KWU in Bydgoszcz. I worked, among others also as a babysitter, foreign language tutor and translator.
In 2021, I started my education at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences „Academia Rerum Socialium” of the NCU in the field of social sciences, in the discipline of communication and media studies, with the defense planned for 2025. My research interests revolve around functionality & accessibility of digital environments. In my doctoral dissertation, I focus on two news stations: BBC and CNN, and more precisely: on the information architecture functionality on their websites. The result of the research will be recommendations for corrections & static prototype designs of websites of news television stations in general.
Recently, my scientific book was published, which is also the first book in the approximately 4-year history of the ARS Doctoral School of Social Sciences, published by a doctoral student: Badania architektury informacji na przykładzie radia akademickiego. User Experience i User Interface (EN: Information architecture research on the example of academic radio […]). Thus, this is the first book and, as far as I know, the only scientific work on the holistic approach to information architecture in academic radio.
In December 2022, I received funding under the IDUB NCU grant: Mobility for PhD Students for a research project entitled „Information architecture on websites of public media broadcasters” (PLN 14,360). The grant was successfully implemented.
From time to time I take an active part in scientific conferences, publish articles in prestigious journals and chapters in collective monographs, as well as give guest lectures.
Since October 1, 2023 I work as a lecturer (an academic teacher) at Państwowa Akademia Nauk Stosowanych we Włocławku (State Academy of Applied Sciences in Wloclawek, Poland). The main subjects are: New Media (a lecture & practical classes), Methodology of Social Sciences (practical classes), Voice emission (workshops). Additionally: assistant promoter mentoring.
