I grew up in the picturesque town of Czersk in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Bory Tucholskie. Many of my ancestors come from the Kashubian nobility and the region called Kosznajderia (they are descendants of former German settlers in the Chojnice-Tuchola-Kamień Krajeński triangle). Among my distant ancestors were i.a. Mikołaj of Oporów, Sulima coat of arms (a close associate of King Władysław Jagiełło), which connects me, among others, with King Stanisław Leszczyński or the Bourbon dynasty. My great-grandmother was half Ukrainian, and my slightly more distant roots go back to i.a. Scandinavia. I come from an educated family of philologists, teachers, doctors & lawyers. I married – as many say about him (with which I definitely agree!) – „a walking encyclopedia”, Prof. Radosław Sajna-Kunowsky (yes, we met at the university – then he was still a doctor and I was a diligent student!).
